Settings
Settings let you configure your household's profile, manage members, connect external services, and control how HoneyDone generates and delivers information.
Household profile
Settings → Household — configure the details HoneyDone uses to tailor suggestions:
| Field | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Household name | Shown across the app |
| Home type | House, apartment, condo — affects relevant maintenance suggestions |
| Outdoor spaces | Yard, deck, pool, garden — determines which seasonal tasks apply |
| Climate zone | Used to time weather-dependent tasks correctly |
| Number of adults / children | Affects workload balancing and capacity estimates |
| Pets | Enables pet-specific care reminders |
Changing your household timezone
Settings → Household → Timezone — the household owner can change the household's timezone from the Timezone field.
Household timezone controls scheduling for everyone in the household, not just how times are displayed:
- Quiet hours: push notifications are suppressed during your household's local nighttime, based on this setting.
- Weekly plans: the weekly planning proposal is generated on your household's local Sunday, not UTC Sunday.
- Pattern learning: HoneyDone buckets completed tasks by day-of-week and time-of-day in this timezone to learn your household's rhythms.
Only the household owner can change this setting, since it affects everyone's schedule. Individual members always see dates and times rendered in their own device's timezone regardless of the household setting.
If you change the timezone, any behavior patterns HoneyDone has already learned will self-correct gradually as new activity accrues in the new timezone — no immediate action needed.
AI features
Settings → AI Features — an explicit, opt-in toggle for AI-assisted features. Off by default.
When enabled, HoneyDone may send task titles and quick-capture text to an AI provider (OpenAI, via the Vercel AI Gateway) to:
- Suggest a cleaner title, classification, and shopping/checklist items when you quick-capture something (capture enrichment).
- Adjust the ranking of your top recommended tasks based on contextual relevance (recommendation scoring).
This setting requires a Pro plan and can only be turned on by the household owner — it applies to the whole household, not per member. If your plan doesn't cover it, the toggle stays off until you upgrade.
If AI features are off, disabled, or a request fails for any reason, HoneyDone always falls back to its built-in deterministic logic — nothing breaks, and no household data leaves the system.
Members
Settings → Members — view who's in your household and manage access.
- View members: see everyone currently in your household with their role and join date.
- Invite a member: enter an email address to send an invitation. Invitations expire after 7 days.
- Remove a member: members can be removed by a household admin. Their tasks are not deleted — you can reassign them first.
Members are synchronized with your household's organization account. Each member signs in with their own credentials.
Integrations
Settings → Integrations — connect external calendar and email services.
Calendar
Connect Google Calendar or Outlook to let HoneyDone read your schedule. HoneyDone uses your calendar to:
- Time proposals around events (e.g., "guests arriving Friday — prep tasks due Thursday")
- Avoid scheduling tasks on busy days
- Surface pre-event preparation suggestions
HoneyDone reads your calendar. It never adds or modifies calendar events.
To connect: click Connect Google Calendar (or Outlook), sign in to your account, and grant read-only access when prompted.
Email capture
Connect your email account to use the HoneyDone capture email address. Forward any email to your household's capture address, and it will appear in your Inbox as a draft item for review.
See External Capture for full details.
Home integration
Settings → Home — connect a Home Assistant instance so HoneyDone can read presence and time-of-day signals. This is entirely optional and read-only. See Home Integration for setup steps.
Capture settings
Settings → Capture — set up ways to quickly get things into HoneyDone:
- Standalone capture page — a minimal, mobile-friendly page at
/capture. Add it to your phone's home screen for one-tap capture. - Browser bookmarklet — drag the bookmarklet to your bookmark bar. Click it on any page to send the URL and page title to your household inbox as a draft.
Notifications
Settings → Notifications — control what triggers a notification and how you receive it.
- In-app: notifications appear in the bell icon in the top bar and in your Inbox.
- Push notifications: enable push notifications to receive alerts on your device even when the app is closed. See Notifications for details.
You can configure notification preferences per-category: task assignments, due date reminders, coordination requests, and proposal reviews.
